Michael McKelvey

Director, music director, performer, producer & Teacher

I have served as a musical and theatre educator on all levels.  I am  a Professor of Practice in Voice and Musical Theatre at Tulane University.  From 2011-2015, I was the Head of Voice and an Associate Professor of Musical Theatre at the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.  I have also served on the faculties of St. Edward's University, Concordia University-Austin, Mountain View College,  St. Stephen's School, Austin Musical Theatre Academy, Texas Arts Project and Zach Scott Performing Arts School.

Musical Director

I have served as Musical a/0 Vocal Director on over 70 different shows including Crazy for You, Big River, Annie, Parade, Carousel, Evil Dead, Music Man, Pajama Game, etc. with companies such as Austin Musical Theatre, Zilker Theatre Productions, Pittsburgh Playhouse, Austin Shakespeare, Austin Playhouse, Penfold Theatre Company, Summer Stock Austin and several others.


I am currently the Artistic Director of Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane University, Producing Artistic Director for The Storyville Collective (New Orleans) and Doctuh Mistuh Productions (Austin), and Co-Founder of Summer Stock Austin.  I also have served as a producer or consultant for numerous theatre companies and organizations.
